The following are 16 original works of art which were created by me during the summer of 2021. During this time I experienced a major depressive episode. My depression halted my ability to work on scripts and do my day job at a University. With the love and support of family and friends, therapy, and the will to get better, I began being able to take small steps forward, including a daily practice of writing in a journal, and creating daily abstract works of art.

These 16 works were created mostly while sitting outside, and mostly with my eyes closed. I would then open my eyes and discover the results. A lot of them were shit, but some held a special kind of magic, in my humble opinion. I then took artistic liberties to add a few final marks to give each piece some finishing touches.

Rather than keeping them hidden away, I decided that these works served a wonderful purpose in helping me heal and that it would be incredible to see them adopted into new homes, perhaps displayed proudly inside a shiny frame, perhaps sitting amongst house plants, perhaps looking down on sleeping pets or playing kids, perhaps perched proudly on a dresser, or mounted on a wall amongst other artwork buddies (I’m thinking Toy Story here folks).

Each work is numbered and accompanied by a thought drawn from my daily journals. This project serves as a step in my continuous creative journey to find humour during dark times.
